Abstract:
Allergic rhinitis is a prevalent upper respiratory condition affecting a significant portion of the global population, notably reducing the quality of life of those affected. This randomized, placebo-controlled feasibility trial aims to evaluate the add-on benefit of Arundo 30C, a homeopathic remedy, in managing allergic rhinitis alongside constitutional homeopathic treatment. A total of 31 patients were enrolled, randomized into a study group (n=16) receiving Arundo 30C and a control group (n=15) receiving a placebo. Outcome measures included changes in the Total Nasal Symptom Score (TNSS), Absolute Eosinophil Count (AEC), and quality of life (QoL) assessed using the Rhino conjunctivitis Quality of Life Questionnaire (RQLQ). Results demonstrated significant improvements in TNSS and multiple QoL domains (nasal symptoms, eye symptoms, practical problems, activity limitation, and emotional function) in the study group. However, no significant differences were observed in AEC reduction. These findings suggest that Arundo 30C offers added benefits in alleviating symptoms of allergic rhinitis and enhancing the quality of life, although further large-scale studies are warranted.
