Abstract:
Nocturnal enuresis, commonly known as bedwetting, is a frequent concern among children. It refers to repeated, involuntary urination during sleep in children older than 5 years, without any underlying medical conditions. Although it is not physically harmful, it can greatly affect a child's self-esteem, social interactions, and academic performance, leading to distress for both the child and their parents. This condition is categorized into primary (never been dry) and secondary (recurrence after being dry for more than six months). The prevalence decreases with age, affecting 15-20% of children aged 5, 5% of those aged 10, and 1-2% of individuals older than 15. If untreated, approximately 15% of affected children outgrow it each year. Bedwetting is a multifaceted issue, but there are motivational therapies available that can enhance the quality of life for affected families.
