Abstract:
Plantar Palmar Keratosis is a dermatological condition characterized by hyperkeratosis on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet. This review aims to provide a detailed exploration of PPK, focusing on its classification, genetic mutations, clinical features, diagnostic approaches, and therapeutic strategies. Hereditary forms of PPK are closely linked to mutations in keratin genes, while acquired cases can arise from various environmental or systemic triggers. The clinical severity of PPK varies, ranging from mild thickening to painful, debilitating fissures. This literature review also highlights advances in genetic research, shedding light on the molecular mechanisms behind PPK, as well as emerging therapies, including novel retinoids and gene therapies. Despite therapeutic advances, PPK poses significant challenges in management, particularly in severe cases.
This case study explores the management of Plantar Palmar Keratosis in a 42-year-old female who turned to homoeopathy due to dissatisfaction with conventional therapies. The patient suffered from deep cracks and intense itching on both soles aggravated by washing. This case revealed that Homoeopathy works wonderfully in such pathological chronic cases without any significant mental symptoms.
Homoeopathic treatment was tailored to her physical symptom profile and constitutional characteristics. Remedy was prescribed based on symptom similarity and repertorization. Within 30 days, the patient showed significant improvement of itching and pain afterwards cracks healed by itself.
This case shows homoeopathy's potential as an effective or complementary treatment for Plantar Palmar Keratosis, emphasizing personalized care that considers the patient's overall health. Further research is required to validate these findings and elucidate
The mechanisms by which homoeopathic remedies exert their therapeutic effects in managing Planto Palmar Keratosis.
