Author(s): Dr. Aruna Karole and Dr. Santosh Hande
Abstract:
Introduction: Melanonychia refers to the Greek word “Melas” meaning black (or brown color) and “Onyx” meaning nail. It is characterized by brown-black discoloration of the nail plate and the pigment referred to is conventionally melanin. It may involve single or multiple nails, both in fingernails and toenails. Melanonychia is the primary symptom of melanoma, the most dangerous disease of the nail unit. Melanoncychia one of the difficult diagnosing for clinicians, it’s a brown-to-black nail pigmentation generated from melanin [1].
Homoeopathy, on the other hand is neither expensive, nor has any side effects. It works by understanding the patient as a whole, through his mental and physical make-up, which along with the particular symptoms forms the totality on which the apt medicine is prescribed [1].
Case Summary: This article shows a case of melanonychia on both in finger nails and with the defieciency of vitamin-D at very lower range in a 17 years male child, responded commendably with five doses of individualised medicine silicea 30. Photographic evidences are provided wherever necessary and reports are also attached with it.
