Abstract:

Diabetes Mellitus and its complications are clinical conditions of growing importance both from the clinical as well as epidemiological standpoint. Diabetes Mellitus (DM) occurs either because of a lack of Insulin or because of the presence of factors that oppose the action of Insulin. There have been various efforts made in the improvement of the treatment of Diabetes Mellitus, However, in spite of all progress, the current treatment modalities are ineffective on a long term basis and emphasis is drawn on discovering newer anti-diabetic agents, especially in various alternative and complementary systems of medicines that recognize the disease condition. Homoeopathy, is a holistic system of medicine, having vast range of medicines which can benefit the raising demands of the population. Based on the principles of “similia similibus curentur”, Prescription based on symptom similarity can cater to huge population, irrespective of the stage they are in. However, in cases where paucity of symptoms are observed, drugs can be prescribed based on their seat of action and miasmatic background as well.
