Abstract:

Atopic Dermatitis is the most common chronic dermatological disease affecting pediatric age group that can have various presentations. Although the clear cut etiology is still unknown, modern science has enough evidence to dive into the imbalance of one’s immune system like impaired epithelial barrier, low concentration of regulatory T cells. Several genetic mutations and epigenetic alterations have been also attributed to the development of Atopic Dermatitis. It presents as variable intensity of pruritus, lichenification and erythema, all these leading significantly to disrupt one’s quality of life (QOL). The response to antihistamine therapy in conventional mode of treatment have been fallen short to manage Atopic Dermatitis effectively unless and until combined corticosteroid (CS) therapy. Homeopathy is known to have an positive therapeutic effect over allergic diseases in general and it can be considered as an effective way to control and manage Atopic Dermatitis.
