Treating alcoholism with homeopathy: A gentle approach
Nisha Meena and Sarita Verma
Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) is a chronic condition characterized by an inability to control alcohol consumption despite negative consequences. It significantly impacts physical and mental health, contributing to social and economic burdens. Epidemiological studies highlight variations in AUD prevalence, emphasizing the need for region-specific interventions. Jellinek’s classification identifies five distinct alcoholism types based on drinking patterns. Multiple factors, including psychological, genetic, social, and neurobiological influences, contribute to AUD development. Behavioral changes such as impaired judgment, mood instability, aggression, and social withdrawal are common. Screening tools like the CAGE test aid in diagnosis. Homeopathy offers a holistic approach to managing AUD, utilizing remedies like Nux Vomica, Hyoscyamus, and Arsenic Album to alleviate symptoms and support recovery. While homeopathy can be beneficial, it is most effective when integrated with conventional treatments and professional guidance for long-term recovery.
