Fibroadenosis in reproductive-age women: A case study
Pravin Pratap Rai and Pratibha Yadav
Fibroadenosis, also known as fibrocystic breast disease, is a benign and common breast condition characterized by lumpiness, discomfort, and changes in breast tissue. It predominantly affects women of reproductive age due to hormonal fluctuations, particularly oestrogen and progesterone. The condition presents with nodular, dense breast tissue and may cause cyclical breast pain, tenderness, or swelling. Diagnosis is typically made through clinical examination, ultrasound, and mammography, with biopsy performed in uncertain cases to rule out malignancy. Management includes lifestyle modifications, dietary adjustments, hormonal therapy, and analgesics to alleviate symptoms. Although Fibroadenosis is non-cancerous, regular monitoring is essential to differentiate it from other breast pathologies.
