Abstract:

Background: Menopause is a natural and irreversible stage that marks the end of a woman's reproductive life, generally occurring between the ages of 45 and 55. It involves the cessation of menstruation due to hormonal shifts, notably a decline in estrogen and progesterone, along with increased levels of gonadotropins such as FSH and LH.

Aims and Objectives: The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the homoeopathic remedy Sepia officinalis in managing menopausal syndrome, while also analyzing its underlying causes and pathogenesis to gain deeper insight.

Materials and Methods: This observational clinical study included 100 women above 45 years of age, all diagnosed with menopausal syndrome and selected through randomized sampling as per predefined inclusion criteria. Treatment with Sepia officinalis followed classical homoeopathic principles, and data were collected through clinical observation, patient feedback, and documented case studies.

Results: Of the participants, 72% were aged 45–50, 22% were 51–55, and 6% were 56–60. Common symptoms included hot flushes, night sweats, emotional fluctuations, vaginal dryness, insomnia, and diminished libido. Sepia 30 was prescribed to 55% of patients, while 45% received Sepia 200. The outcomes indicated that 72% showed marked improvement, 20% had moderate improvement, 6% experienced mild improvement, and 2% showed no change. Statistical analysis revealed a t-value of 15.64 (𝑡= 15.64), with a p-value less than 0.05, confirming statistical significance.

Conclusion: The findings demonstrate that Sepia officinalis was effective in alleviating various symptoms of menopausal syndrome when administered in accordance with homoeopathic principles.
