Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is generally categorized into two main types: type 1 DM, or insulin-dependent diabetes, which comprises about 5% to 10% of cases, and type 2 DM, or non-insulin-dependent diabetes, which makes up 90% to 95% of all cases.
