Autism spectrum disorder in childhood managed with natrum muriaticum: A case report

Autistic spectrum disorder is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by poor social interaction, communication and restricted, repetitive behaviors in children prevalent over past years. The treatment of autistic spectrum disorder mainly focus on improving day to day functional ability and optimize the quality of life. The search for medicines touching core symptoms of autism is still going on. Homeopathy had a vast scope in the management of increasing childhood autism cases through its safer and holistic approach.
Case summary: A case of three year old male child brought to learning disability OPD of SKHMC with symptoms of autistic spectrum disorder and was managed with homeopathic medicine natrum muriaticum, through repertorisation of symptoms using synthesis repertory. The case was observed for a period of one year and improvement in the child was assessed through Indian scale for assessment of autism. The baseline score of 104 turned to 78 after one yr of treatment. This case focuses on effectiveness of homoeopathy medicine natrum muriaticum selected through repertorial approach using synthesis repertory in the management of autism in childhood.
