Abstract:

Background: Lycopodium clavatum is considered one of the most comprehensive remedies in Homoeopathic Materia Medica, often reflecting a wide spectrum of human ailments. Its symptomatology is so extensive that it may appear to encompass nearly all forms of disease, making it a cornerstone in clinical practice. This study aims to clinically verify and refine the totality of Lycopodium symptoms through observation and follow-up, thereby identifying clear indications for its prescription.

Aim: To evaluate the clinical presentation of Lycopodium clavatum and establish its characteristic symptom totality through observed results.

Objectives

•    To clinically verify the indications of Lycopodium clavatum.
•    To restore health by applying the principles of Homoeopathy through individualized prescriptions.
Methods: This prospective observational study was conducted on 30 patients at the Outpatient Department of Government Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Bhopal. Patients were selected based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. Case-taking followed the guidelines outlined in Aphorisms 83-104 of the Organon of Medicine. Remedies were prescribed based on individual symptom totality, with assistance from RADAR software for repertorization. Potency and dosage were selected according to standard Homoeopathic principles. Patients were followed up three times to monitor clinical outcomes, and auxiliary measures were employed where required. The ‘Patient Global Assessment Scale’ was used for outcome evaluation.

Results: Among the 30 cases studied, 18 patients (60%) showed moderate improvement, 9 patients (30%) experienced marked improvement, and 3 patients (10%) demonstrated mild improvement. No patient showed a lack of response to the treatment.

Conclusion: The study identified a consistent group of mental, physical, and symptoms associated with Lycopodium clavatum, reinforcing its applicability across a broad range of clinical conditions. Prescriptions based on these verified symptoms yielded favorable outcomes, reaffirming the efficacy of individualized Homoeopathic treatment. The findings highlight the utility of a repertorial approach, particularly through Kent’s Repertory, in enhancing therapeutic precision.
