Vitiligo is a benign, chronic asymptomatic skin pigmentation which occurs due to deficiency or absence of melanocytes in the skin, affecting about 1% of the population world-wide. The disease has a considerable psycho-social burden and affects the QoL of the patient. It affects both sexes and all age group equally. It can be autoimmune, stress-related or can have genetic predisposition. For patients with vitiligo the psycho-social burden can have profound impact on quality of life. This case-report aims to highlight the significance and function homeopathy plays in vitiligo. It has been discovered that homeopathic management has a substantial influence in treating such cases, enhancing the general well-being and quality of life. Vitiligo in its presentation is an external chronic one-sided disease. However, no external manifestation can occur without a prior internal derangement. Dr Hahnemann has stated that no external malady can arise, persist or even grow worse without the co-operation of the whole organism. That being said, the individuality of the patients has been given prime importance in treatment i.e. physical complaints along with the mental symptoms has been considered for homeopathic prescription in this case of disease.
Summary: A 6-year-old female patient reported to the outpatient department of D.N De Homeopathic medical college and Hospital with vitiligo on left side of the cheek. After a proper case-taking and repertorisation by Kentian approaches SEPIA1M was prescribed after considering all general and particular symptoms. The repertory used was synthesis 8.1 from Homoeopathic software RADAR. After 2 doses of Sepia 1M at an interval of 2 months and at the end of 1 year there was considerable repigmentation was found in the affected area. This evidence-based case-report is an example of successful homoeopathic treatment and management in case of vitiligo with Kent’s approach as Homoeopathy does not treat the disease but the patient as a whole.
