Safira Da Costa and Praveen Kulkarni
Venous ulcers are wounds that are thought to occur due to improper functioning of venous valves, usually of the legs. They are an important cause of chronic wounds, affecting 1% of the population. Homoeopathic management is well known in skin conditions especially because it treats the patient as a whole and not just the isolated skin disease. Also, we are well aware that suppressing skin ailments can cause the disease to go and affect a more important organ of the body. This case report deals with one such case, where a chronic non healing varicose ulcer was effectively managed in a 68 years old female, I. Fernandes, who presented with a big non healing ulcer about 12 cms wide which she had since 2016. Lachesis, a homoeopathic remedy was prescribed based on detailed individualized analysis, resulting in significant improvement in the overall quality of life of the patient.
