Top homeopathic medicines for leucorrhoea: A Materia medica review
Neha Rajput
Background: Leucorrhoea, or abnormal vaginal discharge, is a common gynecological complaint in women of all ages. Though often physiological, it may also be a symptom of underlying pathology such as infections, hormonal imbalance, or systemic weakness. In homeopathy, this condition is treated not merely symptomatically, but through individualized remedies selected according to the totality of symptoms, constitution, and modalities.
Objective: To review and highlight the top homeopathic medicines frequently indicated in the treatment of leucorrhoea, based on classical Materia medica descriptions, clinical experience, and symptom profiles.
Method: This review is based on qualitative analysis of authoritative homeopathic Materia medica texts, including works by Hahnemann, Boericke, Allen, and Clarke, along with clinical correlations from repertories and modern literature. Medicines are selected based on their characteristic leucorrhoea symptoms, modalities, and accompanying constitutional or mental-emotional features.
Conclusion: Leucorrhoea, being multifactorial, demands individualized homeopathic treatment. Remedies such as Sepia, Pulsatilla, Calcarea carbonica, Borax, and Alumina remain foundational in clinical practice due to their detailed indications and efficacy in chronic, recurrent, or constitutional leucorrhoea cases.
