Role of homoeopathy in constipation
Priti and Anil Aggarwal
Constipation is a common gastrointestinal condition characterized by infrequent bowel movements, difficulty in stool passage, or a feeling of incomplete evacuation. It may be acute or chronic and can significantly affect quality of life. The condition results from multiple factors including low dietary fiber, inadequate hydration, sedentary lifestyle, medication side effects, or underlying diseases. Constipation is more prevalent among the elderly and women. Diagnosis is clinical but may require further investigations to rule out structural or metabolic causes. Management includes lifestyle modifications, dietary adjustments, laxatives, and, in chronic cases, further evaluation. Homoeopathy offers a gentle and individualized therapeutic approach, addressing both functional and psychological aspects of constipation.
