An evidence based case report of alopecia areata treated with individualised homoeopathic medicine
Athira R Nath
Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disorder that targets the anagen hair follicles of individuals and leads to non-scarring hair loss. The classic presentation of alopecia areata involves isolated, smooth, sudden patchy hair loss on scalp or any area of hair growth. Various local and systemic treatments including corticosteroids are available in Modern medicine, but a permanent cure lacks and recurrent episodes of hair loss can occur throughout the lives.
Homoeopathy offers excellent results by stimulating body’s innate healing capacity and helping to restore immune system’s function. The case presented here is reported at Practice of Medicine O.P. of Govt. Homoeopathic Medical College, Trivandrum and it showcases a remarkable evidence based outcome in a 16 years old girl presented with Alopecia Areata, when treated with individualised Homoeopathic medicine. Here the similimum chosen was Natrum muriaticum, given in 200th potency and an ideal cure was brought out in a shorter duration.
