Background: Psoriasis is a chronic, immune-mediated skin disorder characterized by red, well-defined, raised patches or plaques that are often covered with silvery-white scales. These lesions can vary in size and may be itchy. One of the hallmark features is the tendency for new lesions to appear at sites of skin injury, known as the Koebner phenomenon. Several external factors can worsen the condition, including infections, emotional stress, and certain medications such as lithium, beta-blockers, and antimalarial drugs.
This case report describes the successful homeopathic treatment of a 61-year-old male patient with Guttate Psoriasis. Since November 2022, the patient has been suffering from extreme itching, acute burning, and excessive scaling, mainly on his back and forearms. Despite his normally extroverted and sociable disposition, the skin condition had a negative impact on his physical comfort and emotional stability, resulting in social isolation, feelings of guilt, and even suicide thoughts.
Before receiving homeopathic care, the patient had been treated with conventional drugs like Tab Neotrenate, Pan D, and topical corticosteroids, which provided only temporary relief. A full homeopathic evaluation was conducted, combining his physical complaints, cold thermal preference, decreased appetite, and mental state. Arsenic Album 0/1 was administered orally based on the overall clinical picture. Graphites ointment was indicated for external use to relieve local symptoms, particularly itching.
At the initial follow-up in June 2023, the patient reported an 80% improvement in burning sensations, as well as substantial emotional uplift and resumed social involvement.
This instance demonstrates how well tailored homeopathic treatment can treat guttate psoriasis. It illustrates how a carefully considered constitutional therapy, backed by topical treatment, can result in a comprehensive improvement that addresses the condition's psychological impacts as well as its physical manifestations without having any negative side effects.
