Hemorrhoids are a prevalent anorectal condition causing discomfort, bleeding, and prolapse. Homoeopathy, known for its individualized treatment approach, utilizes remedies derived from three primary natural kingdoms: Plant, Mineral, and Animal. This retrospective study explores the effectiveness of these kingdom-based homeopathic remedies in the treatment of hemorrhoids. A total of 100 patient records were analyzed from the outpatient and inpatient departments of Sarada Krishna Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital. The study assessed symptom relief, recurrence, and remedy patterns across different grades and types of hemorrhoids.
Findings indicate that remedies from the Plant Kingdom were most frequently used, followed by Mineral, with Animal-based remedies used the least. Among the plant-based medicines, Nux vomica, Ratanhia, and Lycopodium were predominant. Sulphur was the most commonly used mineral-based remedy, while Sepia led the animal group. This distribution reflects a therapeutic inclination toward plant-based remedies, likely due to their broader applicability and symptomatic coverage.
The study underscores the potential of individualized homeopathic prescribing and highlights the relevance of the kingdom-based classification system in understanding prescribing trends. It also suggests the need for further controlled studies to validate these observations and explore deeper correlations between remedy source and clinical outcome.
Objectives
- To analyze the impact of homeopathic treatment on symptom relief and recurrence in hemorrhoid cases.
- To classify remedies based on their kingdom origin: Plant, Mineral, and Animal.
Materials and Methods
Design: Retrospective observational study
Sample Size: 100 cases
Setting: SKHMC OPD/IPD
Inclusion: All ages and genders with clinically diagnosed hemorrhoids
Exclusion: Other anorectal disorders
Conclusion: Plant-based homeopathic remedies were most commonly prescribed and showed promising outcomes in managing hemorrhoids. The study supports the use of kingdom-based classification as a useful framework in homeopathic practice.
