Abstract:

Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is a chronic neuropathic condition characterized by recurrent episodes of intense, electric shock-like facial pain. A detailed understanding of the anatomical architecture of the trigeminal nerve and its surrounding neurovascular structures is essential in elucidating the mechanisms underlying TN and guiding effective treatment strategies. This article outlines the anatomical foundations relevant to TN, emphasizing the nerve’s course, branches, and potential sites of pathological compression.
