Formation of stones in the gall bladder is known as Gallstone or Cholelithiasis. Gallstone disease is the most common disorder affecting the biliary system. It is a very common disease all over the world. It is more prevalence in females than males. Gallstones are formed when bile contains too much cholesterol. The imbalance of the chemical constituents of bile results in precipitation of one or more of the components and ultimately forms gallstones. Gallstones are composed mainly of calcium salts, cholesterol and bilirubin. Cholelithiasis is a clinical syndrome characterized by pain in the upper abdomen especially in the right hypochondriac region, back between the shoulder blades and right shoulder followed by nausea and vomiting. In most of the cases patients are undiagnosed as gallstones often do not have any symptoms i.e. silent stones. Cholelithiasis is a global health problem that is often treated with homeopathy. Studies using homoeopathic medicine have reported beneficial effects for treating in Gallstone. Here, an alternative system of medicine, especially Homoeopathy, plays an important role in treating cholelithiasis. Treatment like cholecystectomy is considered the gold standard for symptomatic cholelithiasis, it has its own limitations, risks and post-operative complications. In this article it will discuss how the homoeopathic medicines act on an individual and helpful in reducing the size of the gallstone with homoeopathic medicine and without any operational procedure. The objective of this review paper to be evaluated the effectiveness of homoeopathic medicines in the treatment of Gallstone (Cholelithiasis).
