Abstract:

Acute Tonsillitis is a common inflammatory condition of palatine tonsils, often triggered by environmental or lifestyle factors. Homoeopathy emphasizes individualized treatment based on such causative factors. The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of etiological factors in the individualized Homoeopathic management of Acute Tonsillitis. The objectives were to identify the various etiological factors contributing to Acute Tonsillitis and to evaluate the effectiveness of individualized Homoeopathic remedies in managing Acute Tonsillitis. Thirty patients diagnosed with Acute Tonsillitis were selected through purposive sampling at Sarada Krishna Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital. Data collected through case taking with all the symptoms were recorded in the case records. Homoeopathic remedies were prescribed based on individual causative factors along with the presenting symptoms. Modified Centor Criteria was used as an assessment tool to record before and after Homoeopathic treatment scores. The study results showed that cold wind exposure (24%) and ice cream intake (17%) were major triggering factors of Acute Tonsillitis. Rhus toxicodendron and Bryonia alba (20% each) were the most commonly prescribed remedies. 200C potency (90%) and dry dose administration (73%) showed significant improvement. The Modified Centor Score significantly reduced post-treatment (p<0.05, t = 22.11). This study concludes that Homoeopathic treatment based on etiological factors is effective in managing Acute Tonsillitis.
