Background: Nummular eczema is a chronic, inflammatory dermatosis presenting as coin- shaped lesions with intense pruritus. Conventional therapies often provide only temporary relief. Homeopathy, when prescribed on the totality of symptoms, may offer long-lasting results.
Objective: To present an overview of nummular eczema and a case report of a 23-year-old girl successfully treated with Graphites 30.
Case Summary: A 23-year-old female presented with multiple rounds, erythematous, scaly plaques on her legs for 6 months. Complaints were worse in winter, from washing, and at night, with sticky discharge. She was chilly, sensitive, and wept easily. Based on totality, Graphites 30 was prescribed as a single dose. Significant improvement was noted within 2 weeks, with complete remission after 3 months, and no relapse during 6 months of follow-up.
Conclusion: Individualized homeopathic treatment with Graphites 30, provided complete and sustained relief in a chronic case of nummular eczema. This highlights the potential of homeopathy as a safe and effective therapeutic modality in chronic dermatoses. Further controlled studies are warranted.
