Haustera woes repertorial approach to the homoeopathic management of primary dysmenorrhoea
Anjana S Mohan and Bhuvaneshwari G
The pain in primary dysmenorrhea is typically cramping in nature, localized to the lower abdomen, and may radiate to the back or thighs. It is often accompanied by symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and emotional disturbances. The underlying mechanism is attributed to excessive uterine prostaglandin secretion, which increases uterine tone, reduces blood flow, and results in pain. Homoeopathy, in contrast, offers a holistic and individualized approach, focusing on treating the person as a whole rather than merely addressing the disease. Remedy selection is guided by the totality of symptoms, encompassing physical, mental, and emotional aspects, and is carefully determined through repertorial analysis. For objective assessment of pain intensity and to monitor treatment outcomes, tools such as the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), and Verbal Multidimensional Scoring System (VMSS) are commonly employed. Overall, homoeopathy provides a safe, non-invasive, and effective therapeutic option for the long-term management of primary dysmenorrhea, promoting both physical relief and emotional well-being.
