Abstract:

Background: Ovulation is essential for women's fertility. Anovulation is among the most common causes of infertility and is a common feature of various disorders like PCOS, thyroid disorders, etc. Overall, 60 to 85% of such patients demonstrate overt menstrual dysfunction, primarily oligomenorrhea, the remainder present with apparent eumenorrhea; although about 5% may demonstrate polymenorrhea.

Objective: The objective of this case report is to document the clinical outcome of individualised homoeopathic management in a patient with Anovulation.

Method: A 23-year-old female presented with irregular menses and inability to conceive. Diagnostic evaluations revealed Anovulation with PCOD, bulky ovaries and endometriotic cyst on both ovaries. The case was analysed in detail, and individualised homoeopathic treatment was prescribed. Based on the totality of symptoms Pulsatilla nigricans in fifty-millesimal scale was administered, starting from 0/1 and gradually progressing to 0/11 over a period of 6 months. Treatment outcome was assessed through symptom resolution and Folliculometry (TVS). A follow-up was conducted to asses for recurrence.

Result: The patient showed significant improvement in Quality of sexual life and Health measured by WHO_QOL regarding sexual life and health, improved markedly with a score of 28 at baseline to 38 after treatment. Folliculometry (TVS) evidence documented the clinical progress.

Conclusion: In this case, individualised homoeopathic treatment with Pulsatilla Nigricans was effective in resolving Anovulatory menstrual cycle within a plausible time frame. Further documentation and studies are warranted to substantiate these findings in the future.
